Charges Dropped Against Robertson County School Officials

Posted: Updated:

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Charges have been dropped against three Robertson County school officials accused of failing to report claims of sexual abuse.

The charges against Karen Renae Fehrman, Kecia Young and Donna Dorris were dismissed Monday during a settlement hearing in Robertson County Circuit Court. Prosecutors said they dropped the charges "with prejudice" due to lack of evidence.

Fehrman is the principal at East Robertson Elementary School, while Young was the assistant principal. Dorris is a school administrator for Robertson County Schools.

The three were accused of failing to report sexual abuse at East Robertson Elementary School that allegedly occurred in September of 2012.

Three families filed a lawsuit against the district alleging that their children were sexually assaulted by another student at East Robertson Elementary.

The lawsuit detailed simulated sex acts being performed by a student that parents say when reported, the school ignored.

The officials' attorney said the district has since issued a written policy on how to report allegations to law enforcement and the Department of Children's Services to prevent this from happening again.
