Semi Crash Causes Backup On I-24 EB Near Beechgrove

BEECHGROVE, Tenn. – One lane of eastbound Interstate 24 was closed for several hours after a crash in Rutherford County involving a tractor trailer. 

The crash was reported at 1:50 p.m. Monday at mile marker 93, about three miles north of Beechgrove, Tennessee in Coffee County.

The tractor trailer drove off the road and into the median befor ecoming to a rest in a culvert filled with water. Details on the cause of the crash and any possible injuries were unknown.

The inside lane of eastbound traffic was closed as crews worked to secure the scene. Traffic was moving slowly on both sides on the interstate, with westbound traffic dealing with rubbernecking delays.

A wrecker was called out to pull the semi and trailer from the culvert. 

The scene was cleared by about 4:30 p.m.
