NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Health care company HCA is relocating the corporate headquarters of two of its business units to a new site in the Gulch.

On Wednesday, the company announced an agreement to purchase the 10.76 acre site at Capitol View in the north Gulch from Northwestern Mutual. The move is expected to bring approximately 2,000 jobs and $200-million in private investment to Davidson County over the next few years.

Parallon and Sarah Cannon are expected to relocate to their new headquarters by the end of 2016.

"We appreciate Mayor Dean's continued support of our expansion in Davidson County, and we look forward to completing this project, which will promote the growth and development of the North Gulch area," Richard M. Bracken, HCA's Chairman and CEO said.

The company had previously announced plans to move its Parallon Business Solutions and Sarah Cannon Research Institute subsidiaries to the long-vacant West End Summit property in Midtown.

At the time of the September 2012 announcement, HCA's proposed development was to consist of two towers of approximately 20 stories each. One would house Parallon Business Solutions and the other for Sarah Cannon Research Institute.

The two new structures would total of 900,000 square feet.

It was not immediately clear if those plans would change or why the company decided to change the location.

HCA is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services, with 162 hospitals and 112 surgery centers in 20 states and England.
