Last Minute Shoppers Searching For Perfect Tree

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With less than a week remaining before Christmas day, last minute shoppers have been out in full force, searching for the perfect tree.

The owners of East Nashville Christmas Tree Corner said they are now down to less than 100 trees. Even though they've sold more than 500 trees, they're still relying on last minute shoppers to buy the remaining trees.

Battle Beasley and his daughter, Zella, said they are searching for that perfect tree.

"First we were looking for height because we have (a) nine foot ceiling and like the angel to hit the ceiling," explained Beasley.

Beasley said he just can't stand the thought of getting a plastic tree, a sentiment that tree farmer Lena Trivette likes to hear.

"Of course I think the big box stores have taken a lot of appreciation away from what we do- but where I am, its great. People are very supportive of what we do," she said.

According to nationwide research, Christmas tree sales were up 7 percent in 2013. Because Thanksgiving fell one week later this year, buyers had one less week to pick out their tree.

The East Nashville Christmas Tree Corner said they will sell trees through Sunday and after that what's leftover will be donated to families who are less fortunate.
