HERMITAGE, Tenn. – A pedestrian was struck by a truck and killed while crossing the street in Hermitage.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near 4723 Andrew Jackson Parkway, just north of Lebanon Road.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 59-year-old Leon Fyke, of Raleigh Drive, was crossing the street when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old James Dean Wolfe, told police he did not see the victim because of the heavy rain.

It was unclear if the man was in a crosswalk or not.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said there was no indication of drugs or alcohol involvement. They said the investigation is ongoing.
