Three Hurt At Walmart After Truck Plows Through Break Area

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Three employees were hurt in Putnam County after a vehicle plowed into an outdoor break area.

Officials with the Cookeville Police Department said the incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart located on Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville.

Police said three employees were sitting under a metal canopy when a truck crashed into the structure. They said the vehicle's headlights were off. 

According to police, the driver of the vehicle said he had been working all night and was tired from shopping all day. They said a child was inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

It was not known how many employees were sitting under the shelter at the time of the incident. One victim was critically injured and transported to an area hospital where their condition was not known.

Police said the other two employees suffered non-life threatening injuries.

It was not immediately known whether or not the crash was intentional.
