Man Shot During Attempted Robbery Outside South Nashville Bar

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was injured in a late night shooting during an attempted robbery outside a bar in south Nashville.

Metro Police said the victim was in the parking lot outside Purple Heys bar on 4th Avenue South around 11 p.m. Sunday when a gunman approached him and demanded money.

As the victim ran away, the robber opened fire. The victim was struck once in the leg, and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the gunman then approached a second victim in a car. The victim told police the robber grabbed him by the shirt, pointed a gun at his face, and demanded money. The victim pulled out his wallet to get out money when the gunman took the wallet and fled the scene.

No identities were immediately released.

No arrests have been made. Police said the gunman was wearing a dark mask, which was possibly a stocking cap with eye holes so no distinct description was available.
