Man Charged In Brief Standoff Involving Children

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after holding several people hostage, including two children, during a brief standoff in west Nashville on Sunday morning.

Police charged 21-year-old Jacarlvis Marable with two counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Marable allegedly held police off from the apartment on the 4400 block of Tennessee Avenue for about a half hour in the early morning hours Sunday morning. Police said there were several people in the home, including his girlfriend, two other women, and two children, ages one and three.

During the standoff, Marable allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, pulled her by the hair and dragged her on the floor. Police said he also fired shots, though no one was hit, and also threatened to shoot two other women who were in the apartment. The two children and their mother were forced into a room and were told not to call police or things would get ugly.

Marable surrendered to police without incident, and was booked into the Davidson County jail.
