State Route 49 Bridge Demolished In Cheatham County

Posted: Updated:

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. - A bridge built in the 1930s in Cheatham County was demolished Monday morning as work continues on a replacement.

The old cantilever bridge in Ashland City fell into the Harpeth River after the implosion just after 11 a.m.

Traffic was stopped while the demolition took place.

Construction on the new $7.9 million concrete and steel structure bridge started last year, and will be complete by June 2014.
