MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Firefighters battled two fires within in an hour on Monday morning in Murfreesboro.

The first fire broke out around 9 a.m. at a home on Sulphur Springs Road. Officials said a fire alarm woke up a woman sleeping inside the home, and she was able to get out safely.

The fire started in a bedroom, and was believed to be accidental. The Red Cross was called out to help the two displaced residents.

Crews were called to a second fire around 10 a.m. at Paulo Products on Rutledge Way. Smoke was coming from a machine that is used to separate dust from metal shavings.

The Fire Marshal said the fire appears to have started as the result of drilling into the machine to install a fire suppression system. The same machine caught fire on October 21.

No one was injured in either fire.
