NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After being forced from their homes by massive flood damage, families living at Parkwood Villa Apartments have been allowed to return.

It has been four months since the devastating flooding and the return is bitter sweet for many people.

When the Ewing Creek flooded on August 8, the overflow of water poured into the Parkwood Villa Apartments, covering many cars, apartments and damaged their belongings.

After months of renovations, apartment owner, Robert King, announced all damaged apartments are ready for occupancy.

"I am proud to be able to say welcome home," said King.

For the first time since August, Mary Dalton returned to her sister's apartment that was badly damaged by the flood.

"It was like you were down on a dump of something," said Dalton. "You will be surprised how powerful water is."

Because her sister has a hard time walking because of arthritis, Dalton is checking the apartment before he sister returns.

While Dalton says her sister is excited to be able to move back to her own apartment, there is sadness.

"She had a beautiful kitchen table set, living room and now she don't have anything. She doesn't have clothes," said Dalton.

When the water rushed into her sister's home, it destroyed nearly everything she owned.

To help families like Dalton's, the owner of the apartments, plus other organizations are collecting donations.

"That help that is needed is primarily household goods, bedding, furniture; all these things are desperately needed by a lot of the families who were flooded back on August 8th," said King.

Donations can be made at Parkwood Villa Apartments leasing office, located at 3258 Brick Church Pike. Monetary donations can also be made with the Westminster Home Connection
