Officials: Murfreesboro Crews Battle Suspicious Grass Fire
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Crews battled what officials called a suspicious grass fire on Christmas Day in Rutherford County.
Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department said crews responded to several brush fires on a property near Agri-Park Drive in Murfreesboro. They said crews arrived on the scene just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Fire officials said the fires appeared to have been intentionally set. They said they battled several small brush fires. One engulfed hay bale also had to be extinguished.
Investigators said two suspects have been identified as being involved in the incident.
The Fire Marshall's Office was called in for further investigation. Tracy Summar, Assistant Fire Marshall, said another fire near the area had also been intentionally set but had already been put out when crews arrived on the scene.
Investigators said charges are pending against the suspects.
There was no other information immediately available.
