SMYRNA, Tenn. - A Rutherford County family is offering a reward for information about the murder of a Smyrna man found dead in his car on the side of the interstate.

Friends and family of Jackie Warpoole, Jr. raised $15,000 for the reward in hopes that it will bring forth information about his murder, according to the Daily News Journal.

A passing motorist found the 47-year-old slumped behind the wheel of his Dodge Magnum on the shoulder of Interstate 24 west just before the Almaville Road exit in Smyrna around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, December 15. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The Rutherford County Sherif's Office is still trying to figure out what happened and who could be involved.

Investigators found his driver's side window had been rolled down, and there was a single hole in the back rear passenger window. NewsChannel 5 has learned that no guns or other weapons were recovered from the victim's car and nothing of value was taken from the vehicle.

One theory is that someone flagged down Warpoole along the interstate, and he rolled down the window as if to talk.

Anyone with information was asked to contact investigators at 615-904-3054.
