Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The suspect from an armed robbery in Wilson County led officers from multiple agencies on a high speed pursuit. The chase ended when the suspect slammed into another car.

Officials said 21-year-old Shawn Sullivan from Knoxville robbed a convenience store in Lebanon Friday. They said he was seen getting away in a stolen black 2003 Nissan Altima. The vehicle also had a stolen license plate from out of West Tennessee.

The Lebanon Police Department put out a call for officers to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle.

A short time later, a deputy with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office spotted the Altima driving west on Interstate 40. He followed the vehicle until Sullivan spotted him and took off at a high rate of speed.

Sullivan got off the interstate at near the airport and headed north on Donelson Pike.

The suspect slammed into a Toyota Prius at the intersection of Donelson and Royal Parkway. The crash happened around 2:15 p.m.

Three people were inside the Prius. Two victims sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. They were expected to recover from their injuries.

Officials said Sullivan fled the scene on foot and ran to the nearby Taco Bell, where he tried to carjack a 53-year-old male who was pulling into the parking lot. Police said he tried to get into the car, but the driver had locked the doors.

Sullivan then ran to a Walgreens parking lot at Donelson and Elm Hill Pike, where he hid under an SUV.

Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department were able to find Sullivan and take him into custody without incident. They said he was still armed with a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol when they found him.

After questioning him, Sullivan was turned over to the Lebanon Police Department and arrested. They expected to charge him with attempted robbery.

Metro Police also planned to charge Sullivan for vehicular assault, evading arrest and attempted carjacking.

He was also wanted on outstanding warrants for armed robbery, assault and theft out of Humboldt, Tennessee.

Donelson Pike was closed for more than an hour while officers conducted their investigation, but the roadway has since reopened.

Officials said the Nissan Altima was reported stolen on December 19 from Lexington, Tennessee.
