CHAPEL HILL, Tenn. – Officials said the City Manager for Chapel Hill has been arrested on charges of sexual battery.

Investigators with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office said 43-year-old Michael Hatten was arrested Friday on charges of sexual battery by an authority figure and contributing to the delinquency of a 16-year-old.

Mayor Carl Cooper, with the City of Chapel Hill, confirmed the arrest Sunday to NewsChannel 5.

Police said the alleged incident happened on December 20.

Mayor Cooper said Hatten has been with the city for about 10 years and during that time had been a good employee.

The Mayor said Hatten has been placed on administrative leave until the case against him has been resolved.

Hatten was booked into the Marshall County Jail on $8,500 bond. He has been scheduled to appear in court on January 14.

There was no other information immediately available.
