Man Charged With DUI In Crash That Critically Injured Passenger

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been charged with DUI and driving without a license in connection with an early morning crash that left his passenger critically injured.

Metro Police said 28-year-old Juan Garcia was driving a Honda coupe when it ran off the side of a Bell Road near Mt. View Road around 1:05 a.m. Monday. The Honda struck an MTA bus stop sitting station and overturned.

A passenger, 23-year-old Omar Garcia, was critically injured and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. It was not immediately known if or how they are related.

Juan Garcia sustained minor injuries. Police said he smelled strongly of alcohol and showed indicators of impairment. A blood sample was taken for analysis.
