Southern Kentucky Man Charged With Shooting, Injuring 2

TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A southern Kentucky man has been charged with shooting and injuring two people during a dispute.

Kentucky State Police troopers said 58-year-old Ricky Wyatt of Austin, Ky., shot 34-year-old Christopher Burgess and 49-year-old Rita Downing after an altercation Sunday afternoon.

Police said Burgess sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen while Downing sustained a gunshot to the arm.

Downing and Burgess were flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, for treatment. Their injuries are non-life threatening.

Wyatt has been charged with first degree assault charges.

Wyatt is being held at the Monroe County Jail. Jail records did not list an attorney.
