NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police conducted a DUI checkpoint in anticipation of this year's New Year's Eve celebrations.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department were out in full force Monday night. A checkpoint was set up from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. in the West End district between 29th and 30th Avenues.

Police said the efforts are all in part of making sure party goers make responsible decisions Tuesday night. Officers were out talking to drivers letting them know what they'll be look for over the next couple of days.

The checkpoint was the only organized group effort that will be conducted over the holiday, but for the next 48 hours, officers will be out checking motorists for suspicion of driving under the influence.
