Water Boil Alert Lifted In Elkton, Kentucky

Posted: Updated:

ELKTON, Ky. – A water boil alert has been lifted after two days in the city of Elkton in Todd County, Kentucky.

The boil advisory was Tuesday afternoon after a possible biological contamination within the water system was detected.

All residents in the city and all other areas served by the water system were advised to boil their water for at least 48 hours or until further notice.

Officials had recommended users boil their water for at least 3 minutes to avoid the threat of any possible adverse health reactions before drinking, food preparation, or oral hygiene purposes.

The alert was lifted Thursday after testing confirmed the water was safe and no longer needed to be boiled.

Additional information can be found on the city's website, elktonky.com.
