Man Wanted In Connection To Smyrna Shooting

SMYRNA, Tenn. – Smyrna Police need help finding a man wanted in connection with a shooting in December.

Especially aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery warrants have been issued for 22-year-old Cortez Smith.

Smyrna Police said he was involved in the December 20, 2013 shooting of Pierre Burns in the parking lot of the Deerfield Inn and Suites on Courier Place.

A friend attempted to rush Burns to the hospital, but police said he wrecked his vehicle near the intersection of Sam Ridley Parkway and Interstate 24.

Burns was eventually taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was treated and released. 

Following the shooting, police arrested 26-year-old Jeremy Rivers and charged him in connection with the shooting.

Investigators said more arrests could be made in connection with the case.
