Metro Police Looking After Homeless As Temperatures Drop

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As temperatures continue to plunge over the next few days, extra eyes will be on Nashville's homeless community.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said its officers will be looking out for those on the streets without a place to stay.

The Nashville Rescue Mission will also be conducting its cold patrols, looking for homeless on the streets.  They said they're going to deploy a rare second van to cover more area downtown.

"They need to get inside and come here, or come some other place," said Mike Tatar with the Nashville Rescue Mission.  "But, get inside.  It's going to be very cold this weekend."

The increased police and rescue mission efforts will continue throughout this week's storm.
