NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bitter cold temperatures sent most people scrambling for a place to warm up Monday.

Several cab drivers spent the night working for free and giving rides to area shelters for people who had no place to stay.

Monday night was the second night Green Cab drivers, like Abdurahman Abdul, volunteered to pick up homeless people and take them in out of the cold.

Some people refused the offer, but others gladly took it.

"I've never experienced this cold," he said. "It's severe cold to me. What about the person who is standing outside all the time?"

Metro Police and the Rescue Mission have been out for the last few days picking people up as well.
