Belmont Student Hits Two Half Court Shots To Help Pay Tuition

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Thanks to ringing two, incredible half-court shots, a student at Belmont University received two, free semesters of tuition.

Twenty-year-old J.T. Faircloth, a junior at Belmont University, nailed a half-court shot at a basketball game last week, and in the process, wiped away his tuition for the semester.

"I wasn't expecting it," said Faircloth. "I just shrugged when I looked at the camera, because what am I supposed to say?"

Part of the shock was that JT did the same thing almost two years ago. He hit a three point shot to have that semester's tuition waived, as well. Thanks to those two shots, he had two full semesters paid in full.

"It's disbelief too," he said. "My friends are like you made it again- that's ridiculous. I can't believe it. I can't believe it either."

The average cost per semester at Belmont is roughly $20,000. He said he's going to use the savings to study abroad this summer.
