Stolen Property Found Being Sold On Craigslist

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – A Columbia family got their stolen four-wheeler returned to them on Tuesday, after police spotted the stolen property for sale on Craigslist.

The Maury County Sheriff's Office said deputies will be going forward with theft and burglary charges for Michael Robert Kennedy, as a result of the Craigslist posting and investigation.

Sheriff's Deputies said Kennedy sold the stolen property to another man, who then posted the property for sale on the web site, not realizing it was stolen. They said it's rare to recover stolen property as valuable as a four-wheeler, and particularly rare to spot it being sold online so soon.

"Especially in the same town that it was stolen from, you don't see that hardly at all," said Detective Johnny Luttrell.

Because of the Craigslist posting, authorities were able to link Kennedy to other recent thefts, which the Sheriff's Office says he will also be charged with.
