MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. – Interstate 65 north in Maury County has been reopened after a tractor trailer lost its load of heavy equipment and spilled diesel fuel along the roadway, blocking Interstate 65 north in Maury County on Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 9 a.m. near mile marker 46, just north of Bear Creek Pike. The truck was hauling a heavy piece of equipment that fell off the truck, and damaged the roadway.

Maury EMA Director Mark Blackwood said if the heavy piece of equipment had hit a car instead of road, it would have been deadly.

No one was hurt.

Maury County Fire Department responded along with Columbia Fire Departments's Hazmat Team and Maury County Emergency Management.

The northbound lanes were closed for hours, but partially reopened around 12:30 p.m. It was fully cleared by 2:30 p.m.
