Man Accused Of Shoving Officer, Throwing Drugs During Foot Pursuit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested for allegedly throwing drugs while leading police officers on a foot chase.

Police stopped a car driven by 36-year-old Erskine Roberts on 41st Avenue North and Indiana Avenue. They said there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

After asking him to step out of his vehicle, police said Roberts shoved a police officer and took off running.

During a foot chase, officer said he threw a yellow bag on the ground. It was later determine to contain more than 100 grams of marijuana.

Roberts was taken into custody after a lengthy pursuit.

According to police, Roberts continued tossing drugs on the ground, including another small bag next to police when he was in custody.

Roberts was charged with assault of a police officer and drug offenses.
