NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Employees at the Omni Hotel Downtown thought they were helping a victim of a house fire, but they turned out to be the victims.

Police charged 33-year-old Adrian Walker with theft and criminal impersonation.

An affidavit said Walker checked into the Omni on Tuesday, telling staff at the hotel that he was the victim of a house fire and his insurance company was going to pay for his stay.

Hotel employees called Allstate, and found out he had made the story up. When they asked Walker for a credit card, it turned out to have a negative balance.

Police were called, and Walker allegedly gave them a false name.

Officers went to his hotel room, and found his social security number and identity.

Walker was booked into the Metro Jail on $5,500 bond.
