Man Fatally Shot Inside Elks Lodge Bar

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One person was fatally shot and another person was wounded in a shooting at the Elks Lodge in Nashville.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 41-year-old Shondell Martin was fatally shot around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. According to police, another male victim was shot in the shoulder during the incident but he was not seriously injured.

Witnesses at the scene told police Martin and the suspect exchanged words prior to the shooting. Police said they arrived on the scene and found Martin with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Martin was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died. The other victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect has been described as a black male, wearing a brown jacket and a light gray hooded sweatshirt. He is said to be five-foot-eight-inches tall.
