Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Near Vanderbilt Campus

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A motorcyclist killed in an overnight crash near Vanderbilt University's campus has been identified.

Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said 23-year-old Jarrod Scott Lycus was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson south on Blakemore Avenue around 2:10 a.m. Friday when he lost control on an icy patch and struck a telephone pole.

Lycus, whose driver's license listed a Pensacola, Florida, address, died at the scene.

Police said the ice formed on the roadway as the result of a water leak from a home on Blakemore Avenue.
