Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said 25-year-old Jamahl Saunders shot and killed around 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Berwick Trail.

Saunders had allegedly come to the area armed and was in the vicinity of a car parked on the street when at least two people opened fire.

The driver of the car, 23-year-old Quvando Beddingfield, also suffered a minor gunshot wound to his arm and ran from the scene.

Officers already in the area heard the gunfire and found Beddingfield, a convicted felon, on nearby Evergreen Drive. When they went to Berwick Trail, they found Saunders lying on the ground. A gun was found next to his body.
