Woman Shot By Metro Police Officers Dies

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A woman shot Tuesday by two Metro Police officers has died. Pamela Hutcherson passed away Wednesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The 52-year-old was shot by officers after they said she threatened them with her gun.

Officers Sergio Espinosa and Joseph Progar were called to Hutcherson's home on Bridgecrest Drive in Antioch around 5 p.m. Tuesday following a 911 call by her daughter. Her daughter told officials Hutcherson had fired a gun at the family dog inside the home and was threatening to kill herself.

Metro police said their preliminary investigation indicated that Espinosa and Progar fired on Hutcherson in self defense after she pointed her gun toward them.

A three-year-old child, along with Hutcherson's son-in-law and son, were also in the home at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured.

Officers Espinosa and Progar, who graduated from the MNPD Academy in December 2012, are on routine administrative assignment while the investigation continues.
