Sumner Co. Man Charged With Shooting Father-In-Law

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – A Sumner County man has been charged with murder after officials said he shot and dismembered his father-in-law. 

Officials with the Sumner County Sheriff's Office said 42-year-old Sandie Calvert was arrested Friday and has been charged with First Degree Murder.

The suspect has been accused of killing his father-in-law, 67-year-old James Hudgins, around 5 p.m. Friday in Hendersonville. 

According to investigators, the suspect shot the victim and then decapitated him. A motive for the murder was not immediately known.  

Calvert has been booked into the Sumner County Jail and is being held without bond.
