Governor's Square Mall To Undergo Major Renovation

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Changes are coming  to Governor's Square Mall in Clarksville. The 28-year-old mall will soon get a look.

The shopping center's parent company, Cafaro, announced Wednesday a major redesign. The multi-million dollar renovation will offer new sky lighting, carpets and soft seating and basically overhaul the mall's appearance inside and out.

"This mall was constructed in the previous century. We're now about to make the mall fit the mold for the 21st century," said mall spokesman Joe Bell. "We think it's very important that the retail center keeps up with the needs and the tastes of the people in the community."

The new look will mirror the food court that was redone in 2010.

They hope the investment will make Governor's Square a destination for people in Clarksville, at Fort Campbell and into Kentucky.

"Whenever this happens we see merchants from around the country because they see a shopping center that is remaining vibrant and will be a place where they want to do business," Bell said.

Renovations begin in April and will happen overnight so the mall will never actually close during the repairs. They hope to have the project completed by November in time for the holiday shopping season.
