2 Die In Apparent Boating Accident In DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Tenn. – Two people have died in what appeared to be a boating accident on Center Hill Lake in DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said a fisherman called authorities saying he had discovered a body around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Two bodies, a male and a female, were recovered from the water. Identities were not released.

The investigation found the pair had gone fishing Wednesday around the Holmes Creek Boat Ramp off of Holmes Creek Road in Smithville.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted in the investigation from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, DeKalb County Rescue Squad, and the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency.

No other details were immediately released.
