WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. – Two people were killed Monday in a crash in Williamson County.
A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Joe E. Martin died in the crash around 4 p.m. on U.S. Highway 31 in Franklin. He was not wearing his seatbelt, but investigators said that would not have made a difference.
The THP said 88-year-old Alice Fisher was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala in the southbound lanes when she crossed over the dividing line and struck Martin's 1991 Ford Ranger. The pickup truck landed in a ditch, while the Impala was spun around.
Investigators said Fisher, of Franklin, was critically injured and died Tuesday night at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also had a dog in her vehicle.
A Deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office was involved in a collision while responding to the fatal crash but officials said no one was hurt.
Students in the Academy of Energy and Power at Maplewood are busy getting ready for next week's Project Expo and had the opportunity to show it off some of their projects to Tennessee Congressman Jim Cooper.
