PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police said two young children have died after the vehicle they were in crashed into a pond in Bledsoe County.

According to media reports, 24-year-old Monique H. Einwechter was driving late Monday when her SUV slipped off a pond dam into the water. She had four children with her between the ages of 6 weeks and 3 years old.

Police said Einwechter was able to get her 1-year-old and her 2-year-old out of the vehicle, but couldn't get to the other two.

Rescue workers pulled their bodies out shortly after arriving on scene, but it was too late to save them.
