Crews Ripping Concord Road Apart During Widening

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – People who live along Concord Road know you have to pick your battles, but the nightmare of just getting around may soon get a lot easier.

"We always say we have to make a reservation to get out onto the street," neighbor Joan Quick joked.

The project started last fall. TDOT officials say crews are now moving utilities like electricity, water and sewer so they have taken out trees and ripped up yards to raise and widen the road.

"On paper is one thing, but when you see it visualized it's something else," said neighbor Bennie Adcox who is now missing a big piece of her front yard.

"It seems like they're going to be right at my front door just about," she said.

This is the second phase of construction, which spans from Nolensville Pike to Sunset Road near the Governors Club. Once complete it'll mean two dedicated lanes, a turning lane and walk/bike path to the interstate.

TDOT officials say that turning lane should make a huge difference for people going into subdivisions.

Things will get worse before the project is complete in the summer of 2016. In April, they'll start shifting traffic to new lanes when widening begins.
