KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A former firefighter with the Fentress County Fire Department has been arrested.

Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 33-year-old Michael Edward Nicholas, of Jamestown, was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said in September 2013, the Fentress County School Board donated a truck to the Fentress County Fire Department. Nicholas, who was chief at the time, has been accused of registering the truck in his name instead of the fire department.

According to the TBI, the suspect later traded the truck to another person for his own personal gain.

Nicholas turned himself in to the Fentress County Jail after being indicted on one count of Theft over $1000.

Bond was set at $5,000.
