NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A local community is rallying around a teenager fighting for life following a car accident.

Meaghan Brewington was critically hurt in the crash February 21st in Westmoreland. She was on her way home from school.

Meaghan has been in an intensive care unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center ever since and faces a long recovery.

Her older brother Shon is thankful she's alive, especially since their oldest brother was killed in car crash back in 2006.

"It was definitely one of those moments of the world stopped spinning," Shon said. "Especially with the past experience. It was just 'my goodness.' Pretty much just instant prayer and 'I've got to get back home.'"

Shon started a Facebook page to update immediate family and friends on Meaghan's recovery.
It has since garnered a national following and 1,500 followers.

Shon said his sister would constantly make jokes about her bright red hair, so he centered the page around the hashtag GingerStrong.

A friend is selling #GingerStrong bracelets to raise money for Meaghan's recovery.

Shon says his sister faces a year to year-and-a-half of recovery.

She has multiple injuries and fractures in her face and jaw requiring several surgeries already.
Meaghan won't be able to talk for a long time so a Facebook page is speaking for her.

You can purchase a #GingerStrong bracelet on the group's facebook page.
