Nashville Rescue Mission To Serve More Than 4,000 Meals On Easter Weekend

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Starting Friday, the Nashville Rescue Mission will serve more than 4,000 meals to Nashville's homeless over the Easter holiday weekend.

Dozens of volunteers helped prepare and serve lunch Friday. The traditional Easter meal they will be serving through Sunday consists of ham, green beans, potatoes, rolls and desserts.

On a daily basis, the Nashville Rescue Mission serves close to 2,000 meals. Their campuses house nearly 800 men, women, and children each night.

Jill Kirkland has been a volunteer with the mission since 2010.

"It's God's work and I just enjoy coming and helping others," said Kirkland.

While the Rescue Mission has plenty of volunteers to help serve meals over this Easter holiday, they need volunteers year-round to serve three meals a day at their Men's and Women's Campuses. You can sign up online at www.nashvillerescuemission.org.

For those who can't volunteer, NewsChannel 5 has once again teamed up with the Nashville Rescue Mission to help provide meals to the less fortunate as part of the Hunger to Hope campaign. For only $2.26 you can provide a hot meal and some hope for our neighbors in need.

Additionally, if you'd like to drop off donations of food or clothing, the Mission's Donation Center is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
