Charges Pending In Hickman Co. School Bus Crash That Injured 3

HICKMAN COUNTY, Tenn. – Charges were pending against a bus driver injured in a school bus crash in Hickman County Monday that also left two students hurt. A total of eight children were on the bus at the time of the collision.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the wreck happened just after 4 p.m.

Troopers said the bus traveling eastbound on Primm Springs Road when the driver veered off the road and struck a fence. The vehicle was somehow projected into the air before coming back onto the roadway, where it later struck a tree on the side of the road.

Out of the eight children on board, two were injured. One was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Another was taken to Vanderbilt by ambulance. Both were expected to survive.

The driver of the bus, 51-year-old James S. Christmas, was also injured in the crash. He was taken to Hickman County Hospital by ambulance.

Investigators said charges against Christmas are pending. The District Attorney will ultimately decide whether or not he will be charged in the incident.
