Posted: Updated:
COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. – A 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming with friends at Rutledge Falls in Coffee County on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office said Jake Taylor, of Woodbury, was with 10 other Cannon County High School students at the falls when he apparently fell on a slick rock. He went underwater and did not resurface.

His friends were trying to find him when one of them on top of the falls spotted him in the water. Once he was pulled out, they attempted CPR but Taylor died at the scene.

An autopsy was underway at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville.
