NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The woman who was killed in a fiery crash after her car struck a utility pole in Antioch early Wednesday morning has been identified.

Officials with Metropolitan Nashville Police said 32-year-old Brandi McCoy was killed when her 2014 Ford Fusion went off the roadway along Murfreesboro Pike and struck a utility pole around 2:15 a.m.

The car caught fire on impact, and McCoy died at the scene. Witnesses said she was trapped and they weren't able to get her out in time.

A friend told police that she and McCoy had been drinking prior to the crash. Police said toxicology testing would be done in order to determine whether alcohol was a contributing factor.

The investigation was ongoing. Police on the scene said it did not appear that the car slowed down before hitting the pole.
