NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A family was displaced after fire heavily damaged their home in the Old Hickory area on Thursday morning.

Flames were visible when firefighters first got to the home in the 1500 block of Robinson Road just before 8:30 a.m. They were able to quickly put out the flames, which spread throughout the breezeway and into the attic.

Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof for ventilation.

No one was at a home when the fire broke out, but firefighters rescued a dog. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian, but was expected to be fine.

The interior of the home was considered a total loss.

The Red Cross was called out to help the three adults and a child who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
