Mayor Dean Helps Break Ground On Sylvan Park Project

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Nashville neighborhood is getting a new makeover that will make it much more user friendly.

Mayor Karl Dean and Metro Public Works came together Wednesday to break ground on a new roundabout at 46th Avenue and Murphy Road.

The project, which includes new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping, aims to make the Sylvan Park area more livable.

The goal of the project is to connect neighbors with nearby parks and businesses.

"Really, it adds such a walkability factor because we're adding four blocks of new sidewalks on both sides of the street and new street lighting,” engineering project manager Jonathan Cleghon .”There will be a new pedestrian plaza in front of some of the businesses.”

The project is set to be complete sometime later this year.
