Nearly 800 Participate In Cystic Fibrosis Walk

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nearly 800 people came out Sunday to raise awareness and funds for cystic fibrosis research.

This weekend was National Walk Weekend and the City of Nashville was one of 600 cities in the U.S. that participated in the event.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects about 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. The local foundation has worked with a couple hundred of those families.

“It feels great out here today making a difference the best thing to me is seeing all of the families here today celebrating what a difference all of this is making in the lives of their children,” said Gretchen Rohleder with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

NewsChannel 5’s Shannon Royster also took part and was the guest emcee for the event.

The walk was expected to raise about $300,000.
