NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly starting a fire at a vacant home over the weekend.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police arrested Brandon Hulan and charged him with one count of aggravated arson and two counts of arson, following the fire that damaged three homes Saturday in the Inglewood area.

The fire broke out around 4 p.m. at a vacant home on Kirkland Avenue. Neighbors told firefighters the home had been vacant for some time.

"The neighbors, they're suspicious, and I imagine [the Fire Marshal’s] going to base a lot of what he has in there, looking to make sure nothing’s over looked," said Captain Sam McPherson with the Nashville Fire Department.

A Davidson County affidavit said witnesses saw Hulan go to the back of the vacant home just before the fire started on Saturday afternoon. He was at the scene when officers arrived at the scene, and said he had black markings on his hands and clothes.

The house suffered extensive smoke and fire damage to its roof. Siding on two neighboring houses had sustained damage, as well.

An adult and three children were inside one of the neighboring homes when the fire broke out, but no one was hurt.

This was the second time fire crews responded to the home in recent months. In April, fire crews responded to another house fire at the vacant home.

After investigating that fire, fire crews said they believed it may have been intentionally set.

Hulan was booked into the Metropolitan Jail on $175,000 bond.
