Smyrna Teen Accused Of Shooting, Killing Uncle

SMYRNA, Tenn. – A Rutherford County teenager has been charged in the shooting death of his uncle.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 17-year-old Cody J. Hargus has been charged with fatally shooting his uncle, 40-year-old Amkha Vetvong.

Police said Vetvong was killed Thursday morning, during an apparent robbery inside his Ries Avenue Home in Nashville.

Relatives went to his home around 9:30 a.m. and noticed the front storm door was slightly open and the glass had separated from the door frame. Police later entered the home and found Vetvong deceased.

Hargus was taken into custody at his home in Smyrna late Friday night.

No other details were known.
