NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police in Nashville said a 78-year-old woman with dementia has been found safe, several hours after family reported her missing.

Metropolitan Nashville Police said Dorothy Donald was found unharmed in east Nashville just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, but did not disclose exactly where or how she was located.

Donald's family reported her missing to police around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. They said they did not realize she had left the home in the 1600 block of Luton Street, not far from the intersection of E. Trinity Lane and Dickerson Pike.

Metro Police issued a Silver Alert for Donald. A Silver Alert is similar to an Amber Alert, but is used to alert the public about missing adults, especially those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other mental disabilities.
