Posted: Updated:

GALLATIN, Tenn. – Police in Gallatin need help finding a man who stole a woman’s SUV and has been using her debit card that was left inside.

Gallatin Police said warrants have been taken out against James Carlton Goodman, Jr. for theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000 and fraudulent use of a credit card.

The victim, who police said was an acquaintance of Goodman, reported to police that he took her 2011 Mazda CX-7 from a home on Grassland Chase in the early morning hours of Monday. She said she spoke to him on the phone several times throughout the day, and he allegedly made several different statements that he was on his way to return the car.

He eventually told her that he had left the vehicle at the Walmart in Gallatin, but she did not find it there. Goodman has allegedly refused to answer her text messages and phone calls since then.

Police said Goodman has also been using the victim’s debit card, which was inside the vehicle. Surveillance photos showed him using it at First State Bank in Gallatin, but police said the last recorded transaction was at Walmart in Mt. Juliet.

The burgundy Mazda has a Tennessee license plate, tag number K1146M.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Gallatin Police Department at (615)452-1313.
